This Daily Prompt: Cliché was not written by Seth Macfarlane.
The Apache Trail loops around the Superstition Mountains area. Goldfield, a Ghost Town built for tourists, is located along the route. Last Sunday, John and I stopped by for a little “mosey” around.
Luckily for us, we were just in time for the world renowned Gun fight. Although we missed most of the dialogue because the actors weren’t miked up and the winds were gusting, this original screenplay, Golden Nugget was, without a doubt, Academy Award winning material.
Sheriff: Howdy stranger. Mind watching this trunk, while I head on down to the Saloon for a cold one?
Cowboy #1: Don’t mind if I do, Sheriff.
Cowboys #2 thru #6: Howdy Cowboy. What’s in the trunk?
Cowboys: Hot Diggity Dawg! It’s full of money!
Madam: No way you boys are goin’ to get out of here alive without my help. I’m telling you now, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Cowboys: You’re as mad as a March Hare. Everyone knows that women couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Git on back to something you can do, you old Cow.
Sheriff: Hey! What are you bunch of Outlaws doing with my money? BANG!
Cowboys: You mean our money! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Sheriff: Quick Deputy. Let’s lock ourselves in the Jailhouse, even though it’s pretty much guaranteed we’ll never get out alive. BANG! BANG!
Cowboys: Keep shooting boys! You never know. One of these days these six shooters might actually hit someone! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Sheriff and Deputy: Oh Yeah?!?!? BANG! BANG!
Cowboys: Take that!! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Sheriff and Deputy: Why you Scoundrels!! The only way you’ll get that money is over our dead bodies. BANG! BANG!
Cowboy #1: I’m going to throw this here stick of dynamite through the Jailhouse window. Cover my back!
Everyone else: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Cowboy #1: I’ve… been… shot.. in the back!?!?!??!!
Cowboy #2: I’ll do it! Cover me!
Everyone else: Why he’s even dumber than the first one. BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Cowboy #2: Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!
Cowboy #3: I’ll do it. NO ONE COVER ME!!!! NO ONE!!!
Sheriff and Deputy: Cough. Cough. Cough. We surrender! We’re coming out with our haaannnds up!
Cowboys #3 through 6: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Sheriff and Deputy: (Slump to their deaths on conveniently placed chairs) Ahhhhhhhhhh….
Cowboys #3 through 6: Yee!! Haw!! Sure as shootin’ we got ‘em.
Cowboy #3: Time to high tail it out of here.
Cowboys #4, 5 and 6: BANG! BANG! BANG!
Cowboy #3: Why you double crossin’…
Cowboy #4: One. Two. Three. All that money divided three ways. We’ve got enough money to burn a wet mule. Whooeeeee!!!!
Cowboys #5 and 6: Make that two ways. BANG! BANG!
Cowboy #4: Aieeeeeeee!!!
Madam: Hold it right there. Drop the trunk. If you turn around nice and slow, I won’t shoot you.
Cowboys #5 and 6: Oh oh. She looks madder than a Mad Cow. Take it easy, ma’am. We’re turning around ….
Madam: BANG! BANG! Moo.
THE END!!!!!!!
Like I said, Academy Award winning material.
Shelley and John
This is classic. Godard said all you need to make a film is a girl and a gun. Here you got madam and many guns.

You crack me up! Definitely an academy award production, maybe it’ll take the Oscar next year. FYI, you were a stones throw from Bob Ryden’s house.

I was most impressed with your command of the word ‘mosey’, for a Canadian. Also, surprised to see you in front of the bars.

I have some cool pictures of Apache Junction too. More remarkably, I have shots of that same cactus. It must be the ONLY really big one in the area. But when we were there, it was August and the ghost town was … (are you ready?) … a ghost town. Just us and the rattlesnakes.
I definitely think you should get at least a nomination, Maybe two.

We were there in the winter. It was soooo funny. I can’t imagine how hot it was in the summer and rattlesnakes. Unbelievably we have only seen one down here in the south in four winters. YIKES!!!
