Seriously, What’s Wrong with these People?

3:50 PM, Organ Pipe National Monument, Arizona

Shelley: Here’s your beer.

John: Thanks. Can you believe it’s been two years since we’ve been here?

Shelley: Crazy.

John: Am loving these “no stress” pull through sites.

Shelley: No kidding.

John: And the breathing room between us and our neighbours.

Shelley: You bet.

John: Sigh. It’s not that I don’t like fully serviced campgrounds, but this, staying in a National preserve is special.

Shelley: Sure is.

John: The peace. The serenity. The quiet. Sigh.

Yap! Yap! Yap! Yappity! Yap! Yap!

Shelley: Oh. Oh. Here it comes.

John: Shelley. Relax. I’m not going to let one little dog spoil all this. Ahhh look at you little fellow. Aren’t you a cutey?

Dog owner: Pippy. Get over here. I’m so sorry but Pippy loves to meet everyone.

John: No problem. See Shelley. I’m a changed man.

Shelley: I apologize.

John and Shelley: Chee….

Loud guy from the next campsite over to an enthralled group: So I said, “I will if you will. And that’s the last time he ever challenged me to jumping in ball freezin’ water.”

The rest of the group. There are 10 in all: Ha! Ha! Ha! Heh! Heh! Heh! Heh! Heh! Whoo heee! Ha! Ha! Ha! etc. etc.

Another guy: We’ve only started. Can’t wait for what kind of stories are going to come out by the end of the night.

The rest of the group. Still 10 of them: Ha! Ha! Ha! Heh! Heh! Heh! Heh! Heh! Whoo heee! Ha! Ha! Ha! etc. etc.

Shelley: Oh boy.

John: No. No. I’m good. Ready?

Shelley and John: It doesn’t get any better than this. Cheers.

4:00 PM…

Varoom!!! Putt! Putt! Putt! One generator fires up.

And another.

And another. And another. And another until all the generators in the entire park  world  are running. Varoom!!! Putt! Putt! Putt! 

And then…

Yap! Yap! Yap! Yappity yap. Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark! etc. etc.

Shouting dog owners: Pippy! Blacky! Poopsie! Bonita! Quiet down! Get in here!

John: What the????? Are you kidding me?

Shelley: John, generators are allowed from 4:00 to 6:00.

John: But.. but… Jesus Christ Shelley! These people are supposed to be outdoor lovers. Be one with nature. Have an appreciation of the desert world. Of the… the… Seriously! What’s wrong with them? For the love of God, they’re in a National Monument. Haven’t they heard of solar panels? You know, solar panels that are now super cheap end efficient. Solar panels that don’t make any noise. Solar panels that provide clean energy. Why? Why do they need generators? For their hair dryers? Their freakin’ microwaves? Can’t be for their TVs. Solar panels will run TVs. Why?

Shelley: Air conditioning?

John: Air conditioning? Here’s an idea people, open your windows and doors. Tell you what, Shelley, Puerto Penasco, Mexico will be nothing like this.

Playa Bonita RV Resort, Puerto Penasco, Mexico. That’s a close up to show everyone how the rig behind us almost backed into our awning.

Lesson learned. RV’ing is never going to be perfect. However, we are moving to the resort’s dry camping area tomorrow. Cheaper and space between the rigs.

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona, USA: $16 USD Dry camping. Water is available, shower and toilets too. Next time we’ll ask to stay away from the generators.

Playa Bonita RV Resort, Puerto Penasco, Mexico, $24 USD per night, or $21USD per day if you stay for a week. Fully serviced but very tight.

Concha Del Mar Campground and RV Park, Puerto Penasco, Mexico: But for $10 USD we shifted less than a km down the beach. Dry camping. Showers, toilets, dump station, laundry mat, free wifi available. Emptying of tanks and purified water available for small cost.

The beach is spectacular but at this time of the year the Cortex Sea is too cold for wimpy me. We did get the kayaks in the water, although always in the morning before the winds came up.
